Not your average flashcards!

Since my last post ended with a picture of my son and his most favorite flashcards ever, I thought it only appropriate to confess a little something I did with him last week. I was dusting in the living room and had to move our big bowl of wine corks out of the way.

He wanted that bowl so badly and I thought, "Well, what the heck?"...so we sat on the floor and looked at every single cork.

I described each one and I kid you not, this went on for over an hour.  He was completely engaged.  It was hilarious.  Here are a few of his favorites:

a moose, a foot, grapes, a cupcake, a raccoon,  a sun, a monkey, the letter "S", a flower, a tree, a kangaroo??...sounds like learning to me!

If only I had these awesome chairs, I could start my own preschool:

Leif.designpark's tone chairs for kids
Hand over my 'Mother of the Year' crown, please.  ;)

[I cannot tell the difference between a $5 and a $100 bottle of wine, so no making fun of our choices!  :)]

Man! See, why can't I be more like that? I would never have done that and look at how much fun he had and probably learned a lot too! I need to chill out. LOL! Those chairs are way cool too!

Also, I LOVE that bowl! Would you mind sharing from where it is? Thx!

That's too cute. How amazing is it that kids can be drawn so easily to something so simple. I think it's inspirational! Thanks for sharing! (he's a cutie.)

I think this is great! I know you were joking about the 'Mother of the Year' thing, but things like this DO make you a great mom! Your son is adorable!

BTW, I love those pillows and the bowl! :o)

Those are some of my favorite moments. I love it when they are young and so easily inspired. One time, my son and I were lying down. I noticed he was entranced with my toenail polish! Every time I'd move my foot, he'd smile and giggle. That went on for a long time! I will never forget that moment. (especially now when he gets home hungry, thirsty, moody, etc- not quite as easily 'inspired' :)... enjoy it, so you can savor those moments in the later years!!

I love the corks! See, I knew there was a reason to drink all that wine besides just me being a lush! Now I can start saving the evidence again for when I have a little one to teach and play with. :)

And those chairs are great!

Thanks, ladies! :) This is such a fun age!!..I do plan to cherish every moment.

Sahar, we actually got that bowl as a wedding gift almost 6 years ago. It's from Crate and Barrel. I just looked and unfortunately they no longer carry it. :( I am sure there are similar ones out there, though!

That is hilarious!!! We have a very tall vase half way filled with corks and my husband is obsessed. When we go out to eat and have a bottle of wine he takes the cork and brings it home. A few weeks ago my daughter started to throw them around and he almost had a heart attack. I laughed. BTW, Blueberry cake donuts were one of my favs. YUM
