Hooray for Urban Outfitters!

After my post last week with fun finds from Urban Outfitters, I decided I had to have that mirror. I ordered it the day after I posted it and it arrived on Wednesday! I was so excited when I saw the box, but as soon as I picked it up, I could hear that there was broken glass inside. Nooooooooooo! I was so mad!!

I opened the box to see that it was wrapped in a single piece of tiny bubble wrap. I'm not a genius, but I know that will not protect a mirror traveling across the country!

I got right on the phone to see what could be done. Would I have to mail a box of broken glass back to them and get another? And what would the chances be that it would arrive broken? The guy I spoke with was super nice and said they would get a new one out to me and they would make sure that it was wrapped appropriately. He also said that it would be a hazard to mail the broken mirror back (yeah, ya think?), so I could just discard it and they would send the new one ASAP! Score! Not only do I get my new mirror sent without the hassle of returning the broken one, I get to keep the broken one! If you look closely at it, there is only that piece of glass in the middle, so once I get rid of all of that, I can figure out a use for it. Perhaps a bulletin board? Maybe I'll lay it flat and use it as a tray or table centerpiece? I'm not sure yet, but I love this sort of project!

So while the people who packaged the mirror in the first place were morons for thinking it would make it in one piece, at least they have great customer service and fix their mistakes! For that, I will continue to shop at and rave about Urban Outfitters.

Great accessories can really make a room!

Or at least I think so! I'm pretty sure I have mentioned my obsession with accessories on numerous occasions. I love shopping for the pillows, lamps, artwork, etc. I'm not big on knick knacks, but done right, even those can be wonderful!

One of my favorite things to do is find interior designers that I love and really examine their rooms. Why did they make those color choices? Why did they pick that lamp? This is fun for me!

The work of Vernon Applegate and Gioi Tran, otherwise know as Applegate Tran, has recently caught my eye. They are interior designers, as well as furniture designers and know how to put together fantastic spaces! Each room just has such great pieces, not just some ordinary accessory that 500 other people also have.

I made these pictures as large as possible for the screen, but they really don't do their work justice. Click on each photo for a better look. Like it? Hate it? Any thoughts? Also, be sure to take a look at their furniture collection!

Ownby Design!

While on our quest for kitchen inspiration, I came across the Ownby Design group. At first I thought it was 'Own By Design', which made no sense to me, but later learned that the founder's name is Claire Ownby. Ohhhh!

Their design philosophy:
It's a recipe for indulgence. Where passion for craftsmanship and true designer-client collaboration unite. It's an unyielding dedication to innovative and fresh concepts. A thriving admiration for refined, natural materials. It's what exists before anything else. It's a philosophy for creating. It's a philosophy for unparalleled design.

I think I like that philosophy! I like these people! Here are some wonderful spaces their team has created. They are truly inspiring!

We are ready! It's time! Our kitchen needs a little help and we are ready to start gathering our thoughts and deciding what we want for our space. As you know, we are indecisive! This could take a very long time, so we are just going to keep looking for ideas, until we reach a decision.

Here are a few inspiring kitchens that have our minds racing! Take a look at some of the work by Sieguzi Interior Design Inc.

Art for Babies!

Isn't this an adorable nursery?

I love art! I think I always have. I really don't have a definite style toward which I gravitate, but each piece must be pleasing to my eye to keep my attention. If it's hideous, I'll never look back. If it's fantastic, I won't be able to take my eyes off of it. I really feel that the same works for children. Why not expose them to wonderful visuals at an early age?

Now perhaps these aren't the only pieces of art out there that I "approve" of for children [I'm joking by the way], but I sure do love these . Aren't they precious? They may be a bit pricey for a child's room, but they sure are cute! Go ahead, take a look. Also, each piece comes in a variety of colors, so the options are endless! Here are just a few:
