In a "design" rut at home...

I have design in quotes above, because I know I am far from a designer.  I do, however, have very strong likes and dislikes when it comes to how I want to put our home together.  Our style is far from "safe", we love color, and like unique pieces.  Lately though, I just cannot seem to get it together.  I have a long list of projects I want to get working on and I have been feeling uninspired.  Whenever I get in that funk, I flip through all of my old Domino magazines and instantly get re-energized and re-introduced to some of my favorite designers who I had completely forgotten about.

Rediscovering the work of Palmer Weiss has pulled me out of my slump and has made me want to get working on some of the items on that long list of mine.  Here are a few of my favorite spaces of hers:

Honestly, there is no major work that needs to be done in our home, but just a few things that we have wanted to change since we moved in three years ago.  We have just sort of learned to live with some of the things we once hated and have now almost forgotten why we initially wanted to change them.  Oh well...time to spruce things up a bit.  Thanks to Palmer Weiss for giving me just the boost I needed!  :)

Have a great weekend!

Next, I will tackle more of a neutral color palette.
In the meantime, take this color personality quiz from Better Homes and Gardens and see if you agree with its results.

My results:
Your color personality is: Green
It sounds like the hue you most relate to is green -- the color most evocative of nature. Adjectives such as kind, gentle, and contemplative likely describe you. You enjoy being involved with your neighbors and coworkers, but you also require plenty of time to yourself to recharge. You are social yet introverted, and modern but not trendy. Surround yourself with your signature color to create a restful, soothing environment. From sage to hunter, green can work well in virtually every room of your house. Use it generously to create a haven you'll love coming home to.

Does your color make sense for you?? Have a great weekend!!

I do not believe in color trends.

Sure there are color trends in interior design and fashion, but why buy into that? Why can't all colors be created equal? Why must this be the year of green? Or the winter of brown? I say screw it. Live with the colors that make you happy and forget about the rules...if there even is such a set of rules.

For the next few days, I will be choosing a color each day and posting some items that fit into that category to hopefully serve as inspiration and as a reminder that every color can be current...no need to be trendy. Trends fade, but color never will. Stay tuned!
